Nobody should retype a revenue figure

Seeing revenue used to mean somebody downloading a file from Hometax, tidying it in a spreadsheet, and typing those numbers into the CRM. The CRM does that part now. It reads the two original sources directly: tax invoices and bank deposits.

What is new

Uploading tax invoices

Integrations gained a Hometax tab, split into settings, data, and a guide. The guide walks through downloading the list from Hometax one screen at a time.

Upload the spreadsheet and you can read it by list, by month, by account, or by upload batch. A file is all or nothing: if anything in it is wrong, not one row goes in. A batch can be rolled back whole.

Linking accounts to companies

The buyer on the invoice is matched by business registration number and trade name, and suggested. A person confirms it. Nothing is created on its own. Where two companies share a trade name, no suggestion is made and both are left alone.

Accounts that are not linked yet can be registered as companies, one at a time or in bulk, and that registration can be rolled back too.

Where the revenue figure comes from

Once tax invoices feed the sales ledger, the revenue tab, customer management, repeat purchase, and VIP all use those numbers. A line at the top of the screen reads "Revenue source: Hometax tax invoices, by issue date, supply value", so you can always see where the figure came from.

Only one source is used at a time. Turn it off and the previous numbers come back.

Matching deposits, and what is outstanding

Forecasting gained a deposit matching panel. Unpaid bills on the left, candidate deposits on the right, each candidate carrying the reason it was suggested.

Link, part-link, unlink, and settle are all done there. Outstanding amounts per account are split into three bands: within 30 days, 31 to 90 days, and over 90 days. Anything sitting in the over-90 band shows in red. A link whose original has disappeared, or whose amount has changed, shows as "needs checking" and drops out of the outstanding calculation. You can also choose whether to match on the gross amount or the supply value.

Filling in weekly revenue

Switch this on in product settings (it is off by default) and any week with no manual entry and no sheet is filled from the supply value on the tax invoices. Open that week's detail to see the invoices one by one. It does not apply to the monthly chart.

Worth knowing

Nothing is pulled from Hometax automatically. Today a person downloads the spreadsheet and uploads it. The guide in the integrations screen shows how to get the list out of Hometax.
